Portfolio Guidelines + Standards
Portfolios are limited in size in order to optimize website load times; this has the added benefit of a concise, impactful book and consistency across TWG (see Artist Board Delineation page).
Specific categories have been assigned maximum volumes for number of assets. Generally, we recognize that some flexibility is needed — particularly for more established artists or artists with unique circumstances. These accommodations should always be reviewed with the Creative Director or Digital Media Manager before being implemented.
Portfolio categories are edited according to multiple directives:
Arranged according to calibre/recognition level of publication, celebrity, model, brand, event, and/or photographer, and quality of the work.
Recent work should be displayed earlier on.
Editorial/Advertising Shoots should generally include 2-4 images. More than that is an exception.
Shoots should be arranged to include different looks; i.e., don’t have four images of the same glam for a hairstylist.
Red Carpet generally shows a mix of the talent’s top clients in the “Top 8.” It is preferred that there is some uniformity to the pattern of display, for ex: A-A-B-B-C-C-D-D or A-A-A-A-B-B-C-C, and so forth.
The Archive category should NOT be used as a generic “overflow” collection. It is for iconic, significantly older work that would not otherwise fit into other categories.
Editors cannot include low-res/poor quality assets.
Artist page thumbnails (next to bio) shouldn’t have text on them and it is preferred that they do not have a white background. These should generally be from editorial shoots, with exceptions made only in rare cases in consultation with the creative director or digital media manager.
Editorial images should not include text on image if clean images can be sourced (covers excluded).
